A Transitory Life of Speaking and Silence (Psalm 39, Part 3)

In Humility, Speak (verses 10-13)

In humility may we acknowledge our total trust in God our Savior. Our frailty and God’s discipline hedge us in; He will sustain and protect us. Even though we are sinners and suffer adversities, we still belong to the covenant community.

Sovereign God, remove this scourge from us. Hear our prayer, Lord, listen to our cry for help; be not deaf to our weeping. We acknowledge our fear and total trust in You. In humility we speak to You.

I once was an outcast stranger on earth,
A sinner by choice, and an alien by birth;
But I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down,
An heir to a mansion, a robe, and a crown.
Harriet E. Buell (1834-1910)
